P90X DAY 127-129: A bunch of P90X Stuff and Some "Results" Pictures.

I've been putting off posting my results pictures. As "results" would indicate I'm finished with something. I guess maybe, "progress" pictures would be a better word.

Due to this, I've learned that I'd never hack it as a painter since I'm neurotic and could never finish a painting. I'd always see it as something to fix or adjust. Well, first, I suppose I would need talent to paint. But that's neither here nor there.

I ALSO learned from taking these "selfies" I would have never been unable to cut it as a teenager these days. I'm just completely out of touch.

I could not get the Art of the "selfie" down. Perhaps I should take a class. 1000's upon 1000's of "selfies" later, I suppose the pictures below were the least worst.

The BEFORE pictures were actually taken on 3/2/14. I got off the couch on 2/1 at 221 lbs.  Now I'm down to 193.

I honestly did not take pictures at the start because I did not believe I would stick with it. I have some pictures I took on my old phone, a year or more earlier that are a better indication of the "project" that was "Day 1," but I can't figure out how to pull them off of there. Perhaps when I'm taking my "selfie" class they go over stuff like that too.

Without THAT picture, this is probably the most accurate thing I can find for comparison sake:

Anyway.

 photo photo3_zps9be48b8d.png

If anything I need to work on my posture. I should probably incorporate into Legs/Back, walking with a book on my head like Marsha did on The Brady Bunch. Maybe try to balance one up there while doing the "Sneaky Lunges." photo photo2_zps92e91a3c.jpg photo resultsfront_zps25a8bd7b.jpg

I'm thinking the "results" could possibly be 83% due to my Tan. But, I digress.

Eventually, I am going to move onto T25. I was planning to start 7/7, And ramble on about that. BUT, I have still more I want to accomplish with P90X. I have a score to settle with one arm pushups.

So. I'll give my complete P90X recap right before I start T25.

I will mention I worked REALLY hard at the workouts. However. I never did Ab Ripper once. Nor Kenpo. Though, on Kenpo days I usually tried to go running or some other form of Cardio.

I also never went past the Warrior 3 moves in Yoga X, because I can't stand the hour and half workout. Though, I did incorporate the first half hour of Yoga X 2-4 times a week. Due to this, I went from hating Yoga, to actually not really minding it.

AND I started slow.

On 2/1 I began doing some light running and mixed in some P90X DVDs just to get myself moving again. I did not officially start the program until 2/18.

I also did not follow any nutrition plan.

My philosophy this time around was to do things my way. That's not to say eat Junk 24/7. I tried to take what I was eating and improve on it. Little bit little. It's a process.

For the most part, I cut out junk foody type sugar, aside, OF COURSE, from my Crumb Danish Wednesdays. And I don't drink Soda. So, that helps. However, I did drink a ton of beer, which I kept mostly to weekends AND I still had my Pizza and my Cheese steaks.

Would my results be better and quicker if I followed a nutrition plan? Absolutely.

However, for me, I have found doing a complete 180 with my diet at the START, may last for a few weeks or even a month. But I get burned out, THEN eventually everything goes to hell AND even the mere thought of doing a workout or trying to eat healthier inevitably leaves me like this:

Besides, I'm trying to change my life not just a few weeks.

Doing things My Way, kept me going, especially at the beginning. When it comes to any of these type of workouts, P90X, T25, Whatever, I think the key is to find someway to keep yourself going and stay with it. After that. It does get easier.

Also, seeing results at Day 130, makes it much easier to eat Grilled Chicken for Dinner, instead of...Doughnuts. It's easier now to reel in my diet then it was at Day 1. Nutrition still is NOT easy. BUT now, I feel it's doable. So. I'll keep making my adjustments. And keep improving.

Even better. I can finally fit into my jeans again.

I still get mad watching that guy Eric use weights on the first set of Exercises (The Balance Lunge)...while I'm not.

I have to admit though, I've made some progress, I actually think I'm at the point now where I think I may add them next time. Maybe just 5 lbers.

On the Super Skaters, Normally I do this exercise without my "skating" foot touching the ground. On my left side, for some reason, AFTER WEEKS AND WEEKS, my balance was off and my foot had to hit the ground a few times, so I had to yell at myself.
 photo photo_zps230d75ab.png

Aside from that, I was FINALLY able to do the Single Leg Wall Squat at a 90 degree angle. It was Tough. But still.

This weekend my wife and I went to the Poconos. Again.

As is tradition. We took her car. And as is ALSO tradition. Right before we get on the turnpike, I happen to look down and there's barely any gas in the car.

At this point in our relationship I only have myself to blame. I take after my father who used to top off, topping off the gas tank. Where as my wife likes to experiment to see how far below EMPTY the car can get before stopping to fill it up.

Besides my complaining about the need for a car filled with gas like some Crotchety Old man, we also stopped by a High School graduation party where I was again reminded of my advancing years.

Though, I did try to fit in:

5 Things you Absolutely, Positively Did Not Know about The Godfather.

5 Things you Absolutely, Positively, Did Not Know about The Godfather

Despite its immense popularity and ranking among the greatest, if not THE GREATEST film of all time, there are a number of little known facts regarding Franis Ford Coppola's Masterpiece, that even the most die hard of fans, are shockingly unaware of.

1. Lenny Montana who played Luca Brasi prepared for the roll by adhering to a diet which completely changed his body chemistry.
Shocking weight gains and losses are somewhat the norm for committed actors preparing for a part.

photo index_zps372ad73a.jpgRobert Deniro's weight fluctuated from 145 to 215 to play Jake Lamotta in Raging Bull. Christian Bale lost 60lbs and was a mere 120lbs starring as Trevor Reznik in the Machinist

However, none of that compares to Lenny Montana. By the time principal photography for The Godfather began on March 29, 1971, Montana's strict diet, left his body made up of nearly 98% Sausage and Peppers.

2. The Character Philip Tattaglia was actually a Muppet Voiced by Jim Henson.
photo Philip_Tattaglia_zps80201c66.jpgModeled after actor Victor Rendina, Tattaglia, or "Tatty," was one of Henson's first attempts at the Marionette/Puppet, or Muppet, as these large mouthed characters with big protruding eyes would later become known as.

In fact, for the film, both the Tattaglia, and Barzini Families were carved entirely out of various types of foam, then covered with fleece, fur, or other felt-like material, and operated by a skilled team of Henson's Muppeteers.

3. Marlon Brando's mustache was made entirely of bacon.
1976 is widely celebrated as the year Marlon Brando ushered in the Modern era of the Diva Actor.

photo index_zps02dee4a4.jpgHe agreed to play the role of Jor-El in the film Superman, only on assurance that he would be paid a large sum of money for what amounted to a small part and did not have to memorize his lines let alone read the script.

What many do not realize, is that Brando was "Big Timin' it" even years earlier.

Aside from insisting on not memorizing his lines for The Godfather, Brando only accepted the role of Vito Corleone with the understanding that his mustache be made entirely of bacon.

4. The Horse Head was actually added in Post Production.

The original scene was NOT actor John Marley waking up next to a horse's head, but rather, actor John Marley, covered in horseradish.

Marley's screaming reaction was not rehearsed, or even in the original script. However, the terror you see in the above clip is very real.

The prolific character actor, actually had an irrational, petrifying fear of horseradish. The Rigging Gaffer, Russel Engles, used this knowledge, and recorded him while playing this practical joke as Marley tried to nap on set. The visceral reaction from Marley only cemented Coppola's ardent stance that the scene be included in the film, as is.

Al Pacino would later remark:

"We kept pleading with Francis, this horseradish thing, just makes no sense, we just shot a whole scene about a prized race horse, maybe he wakes up with the horse's head, but Coppola was so adamant about the condiment. He just wouldn't let it go. All through 77 days of filming, it was Horseradish this, Horseradish that."

Finally the studio executives at Paramount stepped in after the test audiences were left completely baffled by the scene. Further compounding the confusion was a trash can sized jar of horseradish on the night stand to the left of the bed.

In the end. The horse's head was edited IN during post production, and the jar of horseradish, edited OUT. And the rest, is/was movie making history.

5. James Caan wore Prosthetic Shoulders for his role as Sonny Corleone.
One of the best kept secrets in Hollywood is how painfully self conscious James Caan is about his Shoulders.

photo index_zps1d719f13.jpgUpon signing on to play his role as the eldest son of Vito Corleone, Caan insisted on a shoulder enhancement due to the large amount of screen time in which he would be required to wear a tank top.

Though all the rage in today's modern society, even in 1970's Hollywood, Shoulder Enhancements seemed to be something plausible only on the deck of the Star Ship Enterprise.

It was decided that Caan would wear prosthetics. Awaiting construction of the Silicone shoulders, set filming back nearly a year. The end result however, was nothing short of spectacular, and would go on to set the bar for movie prostheses for years to come.

photo images_zpsaebdb0fb.jpgIn the very few and far between scenes in which Caan's Sonny was not in a tank top, shoulder pads were used. The "Sonny Corleone," as it was called at the time, would go on to heavily influence women's fashion a mere decade later.

My biggest accomplishment was that I did 30 Chair Dips with Leg Raises, switching legs every 5 reps the first round, and then another 25 on the second.

On the DVD, Tony remarks about Daniel Haas, (who is doing the Leg Raises along with the Chair Dips) that he couldn't do THAT at Day 20.

So when day 20 rolled around and I was barely able to do regular chair dips, let alone raise my leg, I felt like:

Well, not really. BUT. The reality is I only even attempted the Leg Raises at Day 87. But Progress is Progress.

And THAT is my whole philosphy with P90X or anything really. I don't particularly care about eating clean 24/7, or completely following the schedule. I look at it as, I am changing my life not just a few weeks, SO, who cares if the results I have now at DAY 122, coulda/woulda been achieved at Day 80. I'll get there. Doing things my way improved my diet and kept me pushing play.

Anyway.

I am happy with the results I have so far. In fact, if I would have had these years ago, I would not have had to work as hard to trick my wife into marrying me.
