P90X Days 163-164:Yoga/Chest/Back & Plyo and a small Victory over Laziness.

I was expecting to be a bit weaker this week having not done very much for a while.

I kept up pretty well as compared to the last time I did the workout, though I did fall just a bit short on some of the exercises.


Overall. All things considered. Not bad.

It's seems ridiculous, but I suppose my greatest accomplishment this week was that after 163 days, I think I finally got that "Chicken Wing Stretch" during the warm ups, down.


Is it just me? Or is there anybody else that gets completely confused on what hand is the "Chicken Wing" and what hand holds the "Chicken Wing." Then I'm watching the screen and I'm forgetting what hand is my right vs my left. Insane. But it's true. Which is why I never chew gum and walk at the same time.

I almost had myself convinced that I needed to avoid Plyo and just do the "easier" Cardio X this week. I really was just being lazy.


I wanted the easier way out, however, in the end. I told myself to suck it up, quit being such a freakin' wuss and just do Plyo X.

And. I made it through. I had to extend some of the breaks a bit, but I was able to keep up. So. A small Victory over laziness. But a Victory non the less.

P90X DAYS 156-162: My LOST Week.

My LOST Week.
 

I'll start off with LOST is my all time favorite show. I didn't binge watch the show this week. Though, I probably could have.
 

I could bore you with the specifics, but if you have never watched LOST, it's on Netflix and well worth it.

Some people complain about the ending, but I thought it was great. The show was about the Characters. Not the Island.

Anyway. I planned on Working out Tuesday 7/22. And. I sort of did. Almost.

I began doing Chest/Back and realized that mouth, from having my tooth pulled, was bleeding pretty good. I am assuming it was due to all the pressure I was putting on my Empty head trying to do Military Pushups. Partially, also do to the fact I did not follow anything the Dentist told me NOT to do, after he ripped the tooth out.


After that. The next few days I felt really awful having caught some type of Fever/Cold thing, that had me sweating, then freezing every other minute or so.

I wasted the good part of a week. Tuesday 7/22/14 to Monday 7/28/14. Normally, I would have gone all Sawyer, and expressed my frustration with this turn of events in the following sort of manner:


However, after having been doing this almost 6 months, (working out. not cursing my head off) I don't really see it that way anymore. Sure, it is sort of annoying having taken that much time off. I did not exactly eat well, AND I could have probably even worked out Sunday with no problem. Or Monday for that Matter.

I said it before and I'll keep saying it. I'm trying to change my life, so what's a LOST week really matter in the grand scheme of things? Nothing.

P90X DAYS 150-155: I Finally Got My Tooth Pulled...just before I Attempted to do it Myself.

Starting Wednesday night, 7/16, I basically did not get much sleep. I attempted Arms/Shoulders Thursday, and just did not get through it.

I suppose my wisdom tooth, had finally caught up to me. When it comes to Doctors or Dentists, I usually ascribe to this Philosophy:

Looking back. I really was stupid. I knew I was being stupid. But it wasn't until I had this tooth pulled out of my head, that I was like, "Man, why the hell didn't I do THAT months ago?"

This was essentially me, since February.
 
My wisdom tooth originally started bothering me WAY back in the winter. I went to get it checked out and actually found out I needed a root canal on another tooth. 

While the wisdom tooth was in fact hurting me. The root canal tooth was doing a way better job at it. So. I got the root canal.

As for my wisdom tooth, When it would get worse, I'd schedule an appointment to have it pulled. Then. It would get "less" worse. So. I'd cancel it.

The result being that, the better part of this past week, was spent like this:

Though. Instead of flying away. I just took a bunch of Aleeve. I was still dressed like Superman though.

Looking back over the last NEAR half year. I suppose I usually felt better on weekends, because for a decent part of them, I was drinking Coors Lite Flavored Pain Killers. The last week. Nothing helped.

As the Doctor was twisting, pulling at my wisdom tooth. I began to think. Maybe it was a good idea I didn't try this myself. Just goes to show I am capable of a good decision. Occasionally.

I'm still going to play it safe and take Tuesday off from the workouts to make sure my mouth clots up REALLY WELL. I don't particularly want to risk getting my heart rate up and wind up looking like Eric Northman. Though my wife may not object. 


It's amazing how good I feel now and how well I slept. I know this had to have been effecting my workouts too. Or at least. Mentally. That's what I'm telling myself.

In retrospect. I should have had my pulled wisdom tooth, Replaced with a Gold one.
I suppose there's still time.

P90X DAY 148-149: Plyo X and Resting my Brain.

I took a day off because I actually needed it. Finally. At this point. I can recognize when I'm ducking a workout and when I actually need a break.

I think I just needed to rest my brain. It also didn't help my wisdom tooth, (which I still have not had pulled) was driving me crazy. IT felt like this was going on in my head all day long:


For the past 5 months. I'd make an appointment for the dentist. My tooth stops bothering me. Then. I cancel it. After all, I can't be bothered with wasting my precious time at the dentist. Besides THERE'S Jump Knee Tucks to do. 

Anyway. My tooth inevitably starts hurting AGAIN. Then. I schedule another appointment. Then it stops hurting. So. I cancel it. Rinse. Repeat.  

The definition of Insanity. Well. Real Insanity. Not Shaun T. Insanity.

At one point, it seriously crossed my mind to grab a pair of pliers and pull this last remaining wisdom tooth right out of my head, all by myself. That's with no formal dental training. Though, I have cleaned my dog's teeth.

However, now, it's not hurting again. So. Guess what? I'll probably be an idiot and cancel my dentist appointment. Again. 

One day, I'll smarten up. But. Until then:

P90X DAY 147: Yoga & Chest/Back AND Resisting the Temptation to Eat to "Feel Better."

Today was actually one of my most challenging days I have had, since I started P90X. I prefer NOT to use this blog to whine about stuff. Don't get me wrong. I COMPLAIN about stuff, A LOT, though usually just in a crotchety old man sort of way. And I try to keep it light and force in some attempts at humor. Albeit poor attempts.

The Challenge lies in the fact, that this is/was just a tough day. A couple of months really. I suppose it's been building up. And I let it happen. I just been taking a beating all around, stuff not going right at work. Things going wrong with the house. Despite my amazing wife's attempts to cheer me up, I actually found myself depressed. Maybe depressed. I don't want to make light of depression. Plus, I felt hesitant to even post it, because in a lot of ways it's trivial. People are always going through something more trying. But, I definitely was feeling stressed and somewhat lost. If that makes any sense.

When it came time for Chest/Back all I wanted to do was drink beer and shovel a bunch of food into my mouth. It's weird how even now, I thought to myself, "food'll make me feel better." Just goes to show it's still a struggle, no matter what day you are on.

With that in mind. I forced myself down stairs. Forced myself to push play and forced myself not to eat a bucket of ice cream or whatever else that would have come into my line of vision.

When I started in February. This would NOT have happened. I know it. I would have bagged the workout. Ate a small village. Then. Felt even worse about myself.

I included this today, really just to show, there's always going to be some bad days. And that's when we have to push the hardest to get through it.

It's not easy. I doubt it will ever be easy. BUT. It does get easier. Keep going.

I cut back a bit on the weights for this week on the exercises where they are used. And I felt pretty good getting through the workout. Normally, I'd push through...and probably hurt myself. This time around. I didn't let my EGO get in the way. As Tony would say.
